Happy 2nd Birthday Hayden!

IMG_7677 Birthday tradition is having a Chick-Fil-A picnic at the park with Daddy on his lunch hour. (long standing tradition…started last year.)  This year it was stormy so we opted for a visit to the Galleria’s play place and a bite to eat at Which Wich.

Hayden had a great time playing on the toys and dodging the other 247 kids in the play area.  She wasn’t ready to leave as evidenced by the screaming fit she had when it was time to leave.  (Bryan loved carrying her through the mall while she had a tantrum.  Welcome to the twos!)IMG_7676IMG_7679IMG_7678IMG_7685

Hayden got to chat with her grandma, grandpa and great grandmother in Georgia over the webcam that afternoon. Her other grandmother stopped by that night on her way to a school event and was able to see her open a present and give her birthday smooches.

Overall a very happy second birthday for our sweet girl!    IMG_7681

Thank you Lord for our wonderful 2 year old!

(Birthday party pictures to come!)

Play date with Hollis

Hollis and his mom, Ms. Brooke, came over to play with us last week.  Brooke brought “brunch” and we chatted and ate while Hollis and Hayden played with toys.  Lauren slept through most of the fun. Thanks Hollis and Brooke for spending some time with us.  We love you guys!

Two Month Stats

Lauren 1

lauren 7

Well Folks, hold on to your hats! This girl is doing fantastic.  She is 13.6 pounds (97%), 23.3 inches long (90%) and head circumference was in the 75%. The doctor called her “tall.” No one in our family is referred to as tall.  Average maybe and even petite, but not tall.  Dr. S. also warned me that she will most likely continue to head up the growth charts through her 4 month and even 6 month visits but after that, with the increase in solids and motor activity, she will probably level off and even lean up a bit. If he isn’t worried then neither am I. (love our pediatrician!)

Lauren’s reflux is improving and we may try to wean back the prevacid in a month or so and see how that goes.  He also suggested we drop the dream feed and just see how she does at night.  So here comes the new bed time (between 7 and 8pm).  Yippee!

Overall Lauren has become a pretty laid back baby.  She doesn’t care for “tummy time” or stopping at red lights, but in general has few complaints. We are so very blessed!

Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom…

With Hayden’s ability to talk (and her desire to never be silent) there are definitely days like this…

Man, I love that girl.

Happy Mother’s Day To Me!

Guess who picked out my gift?  Wasn’t me.  Wasn’t Hayden.  Wasn’t Lauren.  It was all because I have such poor eyesight…I obviously NEEDED a larger picture.  (Not because the World Cup begins in a few weeks and our television was just too small to really enjoy it.)  My husband is so thoughtful.  (I’m really saving up my holidays for a new camera…and I do enjoy the new TV set, though not because of my eyes…)  Thanks honey!

Sharing the Swing

IMG_7495

Apparently if “mama’s baby” is swinging then Hayden’s baby also needs to swing.  I believe her exact words are, “my baby swing too?”  Thankfully Lauren doesn’t mind sharing.

Milestone-Sleeping Through the Night (wk 9)

IMG_7496-1 So most of the books consider sleeping through the night to be six continuous hours (at night obviously:).  Lauren has been doing 5-51/2 for a couple of weeks, but I was waiting for a good 6 hour one to use as the “official” record.

Last night I fed her at 10:30 and put her back to bed at 11:00pm.  I woke up at 5:00am having leaked all over the bed (too much?) and wondering why my baby hadn’t called for me yet.  I of course immediately start to wonder if she was still alive and breathing so I go check on her.  She was breathing fine and starting to move around a little.  I went and got back into bed to wait her out at which point (I should have known) she immediately started to whimper for her breakfast… I fed her and put her right back to bed until 7:45am.

So six hours!  The next step is getting her to go to bed between 7pm and 8pm and dreamfeed for her 10/11:00 feed and stay asleep until 5:00am.  Yea for a good night sleeper!

Two Months of Lauren

IMG_7541Time is flying by!

You may be able to tell from the pictures that our baby girl is a good eater :)

I love that Lauren was born on the 5th of the month.  My Dad’s birthday was May 5th (Happy Cinco de Mayo today!) and his sports number was always 5 as was my brothers and mine all through school. The number 5 holds a special place in my family’s hearts. So, it’s fun to think that on the 5th of each month we will celebrate a little more for our girl!

Lauren is doing fabulous!  She really only cries when she is hungry and/or tired (or if we are at a restaurant and my food arrives).  She continues to enjoy milk, her bouncy chair, baths, rocking in the rocking chair, and giving us some wonderful grins.  We go to the doctor on Monday for her well check and first round of immunizations.  I’ll post her stats then.

She hit another milestone last night, but I’m posting about that separately for the sake of continuity. (what a teaser!)

Lord, thank you for Lauren.  She brings us so much joy with her cuddles and grins.  Thank you for blessing us with such a sweet little girl.
