Our Little Ballerina

Apparently the only way to get back into blogging is to make it a choice between writing a blog or doing housework.  Blogging looks more appealing all of a sudden…

Hayden went to ballet “camp” for a week in July.  It was for three hours each morning for four days at our local rec center.  She had a great time with Ms. Michelle and all the other ballerinas. She enjoyed it enough we figured she would like a weekly class.  She is now going every Tuesday morning for about 45 minutes.

She isn’t real clear when you ask her what she is learning.  So far we’ve seen some skipping and some other “moves” though the names of them are often lost in translation.

We are glad she is having fun! Hopefully Bryan and my extremely poor dancing skills have skipped a generation…

Thank you Lord for our precious ballerina!

Grammy, Grandma and Great grandma

We had a wonderful June which included a great visit from Grammy followed quickly by a great visit from Grandma and Great grandma.  Games were played, songs were sung, books were read, food was eaten, hugs and cuddles were shared…it was just about perfect!

Thank you Lord for all the “great” grandmothers in our girls’ lives!

Little Portrait Artist

IMG_3188Hayden drew a picture of me on her Magnadoodle.  And though we were secretly hoping for a professional tennis star to “support us” in our later years, I suppose a (hopefully not starving) artist would also be okay.

(my face isn’t really that round is it…?)

Easter Recap

My mom visited over the Easter weekend.  We squeezed some egg dying, some egg hunting and some other fun in around a severe double ear infections of Lauren’s.

The egg hunting and such was much more fun than the ear infections. Poor Lauren!

She Can Do It Herself

Lauren is a climber.  Lord help us.

She loves to get in and out of her little chair all by herself. Ta da!

A Tisket, A Tasket

Cute girls in a basket.  I occasionally catch a glimpse of sweet, sisterly behavior…

Family Time

We’ve recently spent some time with my extended family.  We saw my Aunt Lucretia & Uncle Herman over Easter weekend and then my Uncle Terry and Aunt Barbara (and Bailey the Labra doodle) this past weekend.  So good to spend time with family!

(apparently the uncles don’t make it into pictures, but the dog does. Nothing personal I assure you.)

Thank you Lord for our family!

Accessorizer

Hayden was way in to purses.  Lauren is way in to hats.  This girl loves to wear a hat…when it’s her idea. When you want her to leave a hat on to protect her from the sun she isn’t as much of a fan.  Go figure.

Just a few recent “hat” shots.

She doesn’t really care if the hat is weather appropriate.  She has also been known to put a pair of her bloomers on her head and run around…unfortunately no incriminating pictures of this.

I think purses and hats we can handle…at least it’s not jewelry—yet.

Hayden’s 3rd Birthday

IMG_2892

Everyone knows that the third birthday party is supposed to be a butterfly one, right? That is what Hayden has been telling me since her last birthday.  So butterflies it was!

We had a great time, though we practiced flexibility with the party venue.  Due to scheduling conflicts with the local elementary school and some possible stormy weather, we relocated the party from our neighborhood park to our house.  Turned out great!

Sweet friends, butterfly wing painting, and strawberry cupcakes make a butterfly party just perfect!

The rest of the day was spent opening presents, playing with new toys, spending time with Uncle Jason, eating Mexican food (Hayden loved when the wait staff at Desperados sang her Happy Birthday in English and then in Spanish…and then brought her a big ole’ bowl of ice cream!) and finally resting.  Whew. Birthdays are exhausting.

Thank you Lord for our big girl Hayden! Her sense of purpose, infectious giggles, unending energy, strong spirit and sweet smile bring us so much joy.  We are so very blessed!
