When the cat's away...

...the little mouse will play.

We've been struggling with the afternoon nap recently. Sometimes Hayden will sleep for an hour and a half and sometimes she will just hang out in her crib and chat to herself. She is MONTHS too young to lose the second nap...if she misses it she is CRANKY with a capital C by 5:00. (please Lord not the second nap!) So it isn't completely unusual for me to hear her through the monitor shaking the crib rail and making a little racket.

Well, today was one of those days. She didn't cry for more than a minute or two and then she got pretty quiet. I waited 10-15 minutes before I turned the monitor on. I heard her chatting and "singing" with some occasional whimpering thrown in. Most of the time lately this will become less frequent until there is silence and I know she is sleeping. Today it went on and on and on. After about 45 minutes I went in to get her. This is what I find.

Apparently when I was rearranging the closet this morning I left this stack of clothes a little too close to the crib (about a half a foot or so). Little miss "I'm not sleepy" decided to transfer it from the stack to the crib. I guess she could reach her arm through the slats and pull things in. Why nap when you can organize!

She also had a really full diaper, but I skipped that picture. (you're welcome)

Thank you Lord for nap time (when it works) and for resourceful children.

  1. She is so awesome and I really think Jacob will be able to give her a run for her money! I have a feeling Jacob and Hayden will be able to make trouble when together. They will scheme how NOT to nap and ways to get out of their car seats. LOVE IT!
